Massage and Bodywork

*My Massage*
My massage has evolved over time and as I have acquired new information.  My description of my daily massage would be  a fusion of many modalities I have learned, including but not limited to Swedish, Soft Tissue Release and Shiatsu.  I prefer my clients tell me what their goal is for getting a massage and entrusting me to deliver the modalities that I feel are most beneficial to them. 
I have also acquired many clients who are athletes, body builders and very physically active.  I've been able to treat them successfully and continue to do so.
 
I describe my massage as slow paced with a medium but firm pressure.  Please always let your Practitioner know when you are experiencing any pain to determine if it is mild muscle tightness or possibly something different.
 
Your appointment begins at the time you are scheduled.  I recommend you arrive to your appointment a few minutes early.  Parking is available in the parking lot.
 
Swedish

The most common type of spa massage in the US.  Involves using strokes going in the direction of blood flow to the heart to increase oxygen flow and release toxins.  Appropriate massage for those unaccustomed to receiving massages.  Swedish is the basis for other massages such as Deep Tissue, Sports and Aromatherapy massages.

Deep Tissue

Using many of the same strokes as Swedish however with a deeper pressure.  I prefer using my forearm when applicable to achieve the pressure needed for a deep tissue massage.  This broader stroke approach is usually more comfortable than using pointy surfaces such as the elbow or fingers.  Deep tissue requires the practitioner to go at a slow pace so as to get acquainted with the muscles giving them time to release as opposed to responding by tensing up.

Sports Massage

Developed to improve athletic performance and aid in the recovery after a sports related event.  However sports massage can be applied to everyone.  You do not have to be an athlete to enjoy the  benefits of a sports massage.  Your muscles do not know the different between an injury caused by an incorrect backhand in tennis or pain caused by sitting at the computer for too long, the same strokes in massage can pertain to the same muscle regardless how the muscle was injured.

Shiatsu​

An ancient Japanese form of bodywork addressing painful muscles or joints and releasing stress in the body by applying relaxed body weight to the client.  Shiatsu is a wonderfully relaxing massage involving percussion, tapping, kenbiki and stretches.

Soft Tissue Release

A wonderful alternative to Deep Tissue massage.  This modality can achieve the same results a deep tissue massage delivers but with a different approach.  The practitioner accesses deep muscles through using repeated stretches and holding them for no more than two seconds.

Continuing Education...

I enjoy learning new modalities of Massage and Bodywork.  I like to fuse the knowledge I have gained together to suit each individual client's needs.  I continue to stay up to date with different massage techniques enhancing my practice as well as my clienteles experience.

Massage Etiquette

New to massage? Not sure what to expect?  Read below to get the most common questions answered.


As a client, what do I wear? Do I get completely undressed?

If you feel comfortable enough to not wear any undergarments, that is totally acceptable, however I completely understand if you would like to leave some clothing on as well.  I respect your modesty and want you to be comfortable and focused on enjoying the massage.

Is there a sheet used for draping?

Yes, I provide everything from towels to full sized sheets for your comfort level.

Are there showers available or should I shower before or after or...?

There are no showers available in my studio.  You showering before is always appreciated yet it depends on what you did that day.  Showering after is up to you.  I use therapeutic grade lightly scented creams and they are actually beneficial for your skin so leaving it on can't hurt. (Biotone massage cream)
